Take Back Control

Today as I was creating an Instagram post I started writing something and then when I was almost done with it an even better topic came to mind. So for the benefit of everyone I am going to dig a bit deeper into this topic than a quick Instagram Post.

This article is about taking back control. But taking back control of what?
While there are many things each of us could take back control of in our daily life, today I am talking about food.

For some people food is in the Land of the Unknown (The uncertainty of what foods are good and what foods are bad). “Health Food” seems to change by the year along with “Unhealthy Food”. But another thing that many people have to take into consideration is the price they are willing to spend on choosing what type of food is best for their family.

But what if it didn’t have to be that difficult and unclear? What would happen if instead we could hear and understand our own bodies and listen to what it is telling us it needs. How much different would our lives be? How much more freedom would we gain from just simple understanding?

Do I eat carbs? Every Day! I love carbs!
Do I eat foods high in fat? Yes! As long as it’s healthy fats such as Avocado, Coconut Oil, Dark Chocolate….
Do I eat Dairy? Sometimes. Dairy causes my body to become inflamed so I tend to avoid Cheese or Milk but my body has no reaction to Butter or eggs.

Food is Freedom as long as you are listening to what your body is asking for and responding accordingly.
We need to learn that food is here to nourish our bodies, not to punish our bodies. Just remember everything in moderation and learn your body’s rhythm, how it reacts when it’s had to much of a certain food or food group. Which doesn’t make it off limits completely, just to be eaten in moderation for a bit.
