Holiday Indulgences
How do we stay healthy over the holidays? I know the answer but it is still a question I ask myself every holiday, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving… In this world full of knowledge we still can’t find the basic answer for our bodies during holiday seasons. The problem with all this information at our finger tips is that half of it is bad and incorrect information. We know that a lot of the information out there is false and that’s why we are so reluctant to try new things. But what if I told you that the answer is already within you?
Your body already knows what it needs to make it feel its best. Most of it comes down to the food we eat. We can indulge and enjoy holiday food such as a roast and sugary desserts, drinks and snacks without feeling like we will fall and fall hard off the path to health. The trick is indulge for the long weekend the holiday sits on, Friday through Monday and then to spend the next week filling your diet with healthy foods to cleanse your body of the sugar coma you had from all the Christmas Cookies.
I don’t mean a juice or smoothie cleanse. No eat real food in dishes such as soups, curries, baked goods sweetened with honey or maple syrup instead of sugar… You don’t have to punish yourself by going on a strict diet after a holiday. Instead celebrate your body and how amazing it is! Your body is stronger than you think and will always bounce back and recenter itself.
So this Christmas Season celebrate your body with all the things it can do and treat yourself with some seasonal delicacies. Watch how your body bounces back once you start to eat normally again. Above all Listen to you body, if it wants a sugary treat allow yourself that indulgence but if your body wants some artichokes listen and respond accordingly to your body.
